About Me

Greetings, everyone!

I'm Himarsha Chathura Ukwatta, and I'm presently pursuing a degree in Media Technologies at the University of Bradford in the UK. Originally hailing from Sri Lanka, my interest in media technologies dates back to my college days, where I primarily delved into video technologies. However, I aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the technological aspects that operate behind the scenes in the world of media.

This decision led me on a journey from Sri Lanka to the UK, a transition I never anticipated. While I embrace the opportunities here, I do miss the tranquility of my Sri Lankan life and the freedom it offered.

During my time studying in the UK, I observed something intriguing and oddly familiar: my peers frequently utilized DSLR cameras. This prompted me to question the preference for DSLRs over video cameras. In pursuit of answers, I unexpectedly found myself delving into photography, a topic quite unrelated to my previous pursuits. As I delved further, I researched DSLR cameras, culminating in my acquisition of a Canon 7D—a choice that left me astounded.

The Canon 7D ignited an immense passion for photography within me. I dedicated substantial time to honing my skills in still photography, a journey that continues to this day. Little did I anticipate that this venture would captivate me so deeply. The university's photo studio and technical center played pivotal roles in nurturing my photography skills.

Eager to showcase my work, I initially attempted to share my photos on Facebook, only to encounter obstacles. Subsequently, I discovered the potential of creating a blog to share photos, videos, and other media projects as part of my coursework. This revelation introduced a new avenue for sharing my visual creations.

My intention for this blog extends beyond showcasing my own work; I also aim to feature the creations of fellow artists. This encapsulates the essence and design behind my "Visual Diary" up to this point. Through this platform, I aspire to offer valuable and meaningful contributions to the world of media.
